Westminster Presbyterian Church Administrator, San Jose, CA
Located on The Alameda at the border between downtown San Jose and the Greater Rose Garden, Westminster Presbyterian Church has a long history of neighborliness and service to community. We are a church where all people are welcomed, respected, and unified by our devotion to Jesus Christ. As the Church Administrator you will work closely with the Senior Pastor, the pastoral staff, church Session and officers, church committees and ministry teams, and assist in facilitating the vision of the church. You will also ensure that church programs and facilities are managed in an effective and efficient manner, including the rental of church facilities. The Church Administrator will attend staff retreats, church leadership meetings and functions, and staff meetings. Specific requirements of the position include:
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office products including the capability and willingness to learn other programs needed to update the website, edit the newsletter, and related tasks.
Organizational skills required to be a key resource and clerical support for the pastor, staff, and members of the congregation as it relates to the work of the church.
Being proactive in managing facility utilization to include blocking out rooms for church activities.
Maintaining the church calendar.
Editing, printing, and assembling the weekly church bulletin using information from the Pastor and Choir Director notes, plus editing and assembling the weekly newsletter.
Updating the church website with announcements and notices.
Assisting the Clerk of Session by assembling session packets, and docket in preparation for meetings, including assisting with maintaining records and rolls.
Sending church bills when received to be approved for payment including handling all church correspondence.
Writing, negotiating, and managing rental contracts, including the collection of rents and managing a system for tracking changes to leases. In managing rentals, the Administrator will be a point of contact for tenants and will maintain a record of rental payments received by month and tenant category, and also provide receipts for cash payments received.
Be flexible and proactive in responding to emergent administrative needs of the church such as grant writing.
As Church Administrator, you will be paid semi-monthly at the rate of $20.00 an hour for up to 30 hours per week. Vacation benefits include two weeks of paid leave per year.
